Our Name
At Digital Loom, we weave together imagery, color, content, code to deliver web, graphic, print, and branding services perfectly tailored to each of our clients and their creative vision.
Digital Loom gets its name from a work of art by artist Janine Antoni called “Slumber” (1993). When displaying the piece, Ms. Antoni lives in the gallery, sleeping with an EEG machine recording her Rapid Eye Movement (REM) at night. The REM is an analogue to Ms. Antoni's dreams, and during the day she sits at a giant loom to weave this pattern into the blanket that covers her bed while she sleeps.
Victoria Merriman saw this piece and spoke with the artist at Mass MOCA in 2000. Shortly after, as she was imagining names for her new company, memories of the giant loom came back. And thus, Digital Loom was born.
